Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has removed top staff members and launched a massive investigation into allegations of treason against dozens of individuals in his government.
As the invasion by murderous Russian forces continues, and as the list of war crimes against Putin’s troops is piling up, multiple Ukrainian officials have been purged, allegedly for leaking critical information to the people killing their civilians.
So far, the war has been raging for nearly 150 days. Thousands have been killed on both sides of the fighting, the most heartbreaking of which is the over 10,000 Ukrainian civilians that have been murdered.
On Sunday, Zelenskyy fired both head of the Security Service, Ivan Bakanov, and Prosecutor General, Iryna Venediktova. Neither, at least as of this reporting, appear to be fired for their direct passing of state secrets, but however for the appearance of widespread corruption within their departments.
If these allegations are accurate, and what will come of them, is certainly to be seen. As is what will be the result of the brutal, and illegal, invasion by Putin of a sovereign country. Similarly uncertain is what the response of the international community will, or will continue to, be. Will they stand against this clear case of imperialism or will they crumble against rising prices?
