Recent polling from the Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation indicates that while satisfaction with DPP is highest of the major parties, support for all parties is down long term and shows large dissatisfaction with the system as the second largest group did not express support for any of the major parties.
Their polling suggested that support for the DPP has increased considerably at the expense of every other party considered, but that there was also an increase in those who did not identify with any party.
Upcoming local elections in Taiwan mean that party affiliation will be looked at closely, but is also subject to influences from the spillover and effects of the Ukraine conflict, but also crucially the governments’ handling of the COVID pandemic.
