Today (February 25th) the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it will be joining other nations in imposing economic sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. Taiwan chastised Russia for the move that has already created numerous casualties and destroyed countless buildings, including multiple homes. MOFA also said that the move flies in the face of territorial sovereignty and undermines regional stability and global peace.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reiterated that Taiwan is committed to defending the values of rule of law, freedom, democracy, and human rights. They also encouraged an end to violence and called for all parties to begin peace talks immediately.

Taiwan said it will continue to coordinate with other nations to impose these sanctions and attempt to work towards a peaceful solution to the conflict. MOFA stating that they will continue evaluating what measure they might implement to once against return to the region to peace and stability.
