Taiwan’s Lantern Festival is set to begin tomorrow in Kaohsiung. Many of the highest ranking politicians in Taiwan were in attendance tonight’s practice run of the celebration.

The main lantern will be lit tomorrow (February 15th). There are two instillations in Kaohsiung, Weiwuying and Love River Bay, this is a first for the lantern festival.

Taiwan’s Premier, Su Tseng-chang, has already visited the Lantern Festival, as have other politicians.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai expressed how proud he is of the city as it has progressed so much in the past 20 years. Developing and becoming a truly modern and impressive city.

The event will be open from 3 pm until midnight tomorrow. Those visiting should be prepared for traffic jams and large crowds. Local and central governments have reminded people to remember to follow CECC guidelines including wearing masks and maintain distancing.
