The CEO of Fast Retail Clothing, the parent company of Japanese brand Uniqlo has so far stated that the company has no intention to pull out of the Russian market, saying, “clothing is a necessity of life. The people of Russia have the same right to live as we do.”

The company is also notable for its refusal to take a stance on the Xinjiang cotton issue. The company refused to comment last year after revelations that the US government had blocked a shipment of the company’s shirts after suspicions arose that the cotton had been farmed using slave labor.

The company is also under investigation in France for its practices.
