The Taiwanese Ministry of Labor has announced that for those who still have unused stimulus vouchers, which expire on April 30th, using them at specific retailers will entitle holders to receive an additional 50% value on the face value of the vouchers. Participating retailers will receive a subsidy from the national government.

The program is still subject to the original validity deadlines of April 30th. 1,500 retailers are participating, and as long as the retailers accept credit cards, e-tickets and mobile payments, digital stimulus vouchers will also be eligible to receive these top-up bonuses.

The purpose of these stimulus vouchers was apparently to encourage spending in the service industry which was deeply affected by the lockdowns under the tier system implemented last year, which seems to have been abandoned by the government which since last year has introduced ad-hoc changes, without actually revising the tier system.
